Violence against Women project. Cut explores the anxiety and fear of stalking as a psychological and emotional form of violence. The hand-cut works on paper physically and symbolically connect the act of cutting—to penetrate, sever, interrupt, wound—to materialise the technologically-mediated attacks and intimidation of repeated text messages, voice mails and emails. It aims to raise awareness that words are as damaging as physical violence. Excerpts of email messages from 23 July 2015–30 March 2016.

I enter my room with anticipation of familiarity
filtered sunlight changes the color of my walls
slowly I move through the space
I stand still and transgress through time
my childhood window appears weathered and aged with use
a portal of flight
I hear the wind dance with the leaves on the tree in the backyard
a commanding presence
I wonder if its still there?
a helicopter interrupts my mental gaze I am parachuted to the present
the filtered sunlight has changed the color of my walls
I stand still and transgress through time
