Hello

I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I hold a AAS (2000), BFA (2009) and PhD (2015) in Visual Communication. Since 2010, I have been living in Melbourne, Australia and a Design Lecturer at Monash University in the faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (MADA).

My design practice and research is significantly informed by the documentation of lived experience utilizing narrative and visual storytelling that focuses on interdisciplinary practice and key themes: memories of domestic space, gendered messaging and public space as a way of sense and place-making.

I work with processes of image making that combines analogue and digital photography, paper sculpture, and dimensional typography to capture the emotional aspects of narratives and as a new way of seeing these issues and reconstructing experiences.

I apply design thinking and visual literacy in an effort to purposively influence perceptions, attitudes and behavior to address social and individual well being and to create inclusive psychological, emotional and spatial environments.

My practice foregrounds self-reflection, embodied creative processes and visualization in design to make sense of one’s lived experience.
